EVILBANE Guide

EVILBANE classes

Quick answer

EVILBANE does not use fixed classes. Your build is the combination of one melee weapon, one ranged weapon, the runes engraved on those weapons and a Heavenstone setup that fits a 10-point cost budget.

EVILBANE has no playable classes. There is no warrior, ranger or mage to pick at character creation, and that is one of the first things new players ask about — the Steam discussions carry a thread simply titled No mage class?. What the game has instead is a loadout system, and this page covers what actually defines a build.

Where the "class" question comes from

Most four-player action RPGs hand you an archetype and a role. EVILBANE hands you a weapon pair and a skill budget. Characters in the official screenshots carry a name and a level — one shows a character called Jay at level 8 — but no class label, and the playtest FAQ describes builds entirely in terms of weapons, runes and Heavenstones.

The four things that define a build

LayerWhat you chooseWhere it is changed
Melee weaponOne of six, across one-handed swords and greatswordsEquipment display stand
Ranged weaponOne of seven, across crossbows, scattershot bows and magic orbsEquipment display stand
RunesEngraved stats, gated behind weapon enhancement levelsRodrik, at Headquarters
Heavenstone skillsAbilities fitted into a shared cost budget of 10Lillian, or in the Operation lobby

Appearance sits on top of all of it. Character creation covered gender, hair, face, eyes, skin tone, face tattoos and costume — and some of those options were unlock-gated rather than free, which is why the appearance layer is worth planning too.

Presets are the class slots

The equipment display stand next to Rodrik holds Presets, and this is the closest thing EVILBANE has to a class menu. An official screenshot shows three preset slots, each pairing an appearance with a weapon-and-skill identity:

  • Preset 1 — Change Appearance, the slot used for redoing the look.
  • **Preset 2 — Eternal Duty weapon with the Active Skill Gravity Overload.**
  • **Preset 3 — Reaper's Gaze weapon with the Active Skill Flash Shards.**

Saving weapons and appearance together in a slot means you swap the whole identity at once rather than re-equipping piece by piece. Three presets, three roles as far as the game is concerned — the game never calls them classes.

The roles that emerge in practice

Nothing here is an official class list, but the loadout rules push players into recognisable jobs inside a four-player Operation:

  • Front-line guard — a one-handed sword that can guard plus a short-range ranged option, built to hold a boss's attention while the lock-on is up.
  • Wide clear — greatsword for area coverage plus a crossbow for weak points, the obvious solo-friendly pair.
  • Skill-focused supporter — a Heavenstone setup weighted to the support and recovery skills rather than attack, spending the same 10-point budget differently.
  • Ammo-free ranged — anything paired with the magic orb, which needs no Magic Ammo but has to recharge from its own mana.

Skills are not a class tree

Weapon Active Skills come attached to the weapon, and Heavenstone skills come from a single shared pool of 18 documented abilities split into attack, support and recovery types. There is no per-class skill tree, no spec to switch and no respec cost, because there is no class to respec out of. Your "respec" is changing a preset.

Character creation details that matter

  • The Call Sign is set the first time you launch the game. During the first playtest it could not be changed afterwards, so pick deliberately.
  • Some creation options are unlocked with account level, materials, or both — the open options are not the whole list.
  • Costumes and appearance are stored per preset, so a preset can be a look as much as a build.

What is not published

There is no official class list because there are no classes, and no official list of the six melee or seven ranged weapons beyond the two names that appear in screenshots. If a page elsewhere shows you an EVILBANE class tier list, it is describing somebody's loadout preference, not a system in the game.
